Apply to be Strategic Events Manager

As Strategic Events Manager at the Global Compact Network Netherlands (GCNL) you will be in charge of managing the event cycle of our local network. You set up small to large, virtual and/or physical events with the aim to bring and share knowledge to our members and to contribute to sustainability. Moreover, you are responsible for following up on opportunities for GCNL to be involved in external events by the United Nations Global Compact, our members, and other (partner) organizations.

Profile

  • Strong affinity with the SDGs and knowledge of sustainable business/CSR.
  • Growth mindset; the event cycle as a driver to achieve GCNL strategic targets
  • Pro-active in recognizing and acting on important (event) details
  • Practical experience with event management
  • Experience with working in an international environment
  • Based in the Netherlands or willing to move to the Netherlands
  • University degree required

Main responsibilities

  • Event Cycle & Network Management
  • Deepening content and diversification
  • Optimize the connection between (non-)business organizations and GCNL
  • Ensure that all stakeholder interests are adequately considered and served throughout

    our event cycle.

Specifics

  • Entry-level job
  • Part-time: 4 days per week
  • Six-month temporary contract, with intention to extend to a more permanent contract
  • Start date: March 2021

Op 3 november 2020 vond de door Global Compact Netwerk Nederland georganiseerde webinar plaats. In dit webinar schetst Hans Reus de belangrijkste bevindingen van het wereldwijde onderzoek dat door executive search firma Russell Reynolds Associates en UN Global Compact is uitgevoerd. Duurzaamheid moet een van de belangrijkste criteria worden bij het benoemen van senior leiders.

Register now for the Young Professionals Program (YPP)!

De inschrijving van het Young Professionals Program voor december is onlangs van start gegaan. Voor de nieuwe ronde van het YPP zijn in totaal 20 plaatsen voor aanstormend toptalent (25 t/m 35 jaar) beschikbaar. Wij stellen het zeer op prijs als u het YPP actief onder de aandacht wilt brengen van uw young professionals en het YPP bespreekbaar wilt maken met de HR en/of Management Development verantwoordelijke. Een aantal van uw jonge toptalenten is toch zeker ook van de partij in december?

Global Compact Network Netherlands (GCNL) ziet de toekomstige generatie leiders als een belangrijke doelgroep om hen actief te betrekken bij de 10 Principles van UN Global Compact en de SDG’s. Deze generatie heeft immers zelf een enorm groot belang bij de realisatie van de SDG’s. Het heft in eigen handen nemen en mede actief invulling geven aan de Decade of Action is het credo voor de young professionals, zoals wij het bij GCNL zien en waarom wij in de afgelopen jaren het Young Professionals Program met succes hebben (door)ontwikkeld.

Wij zijn ervan overtuigd dat dit leiderschapsprogramma een echte aanrader is voor aanstormend toptalent dat geïnteresseerd is in de dynamiek van cross-company teamwork, zijn of haar leiderschapscapaciteiten verder wil ontwikkelen, impact wil hebben op de SDG’s, en niet bevreesd is uit zijn of haar comfort zone te moeten treden! 

 

YPP en covid-19

Afgelopen zomer zijn twee nieuwe teams van young professionals (2 x 9 deelnemers) met veel passie en beleving aan hun SDG journey begonnen. Zij werken via een hybride model, waarbij om de twee weken een korte virtuele vergadering plaatsvindt en om de 6-weken een fysieke bijeenkomst plaatsheeft. Door de huidige nieuwe covid-19 beperkingen (die onlangs door het kabinet zijn afgekondigd) vinden nu voorlopig alle bijeenkomsten virtueel plaats. Dat betekent dat we ook langere virtuele teamsessies inplannen. Maar dat mag de pret en energie in beide teams niet drukken. Tot nu toe werkt dat prima, al is het natuurlijk wel voor een ieder schakelen en jezelf aanpassen aan de nieuwe realiteit.

 

Vanaf januari t/m juni 2021 zullen wij de deelnemers aan het YPP voorzien van een aantal extra waarde toevoegende activiteiten:

  1. Zo zullen wij alle deelnemers aan het YPP een viertal interactieve Webinars aanbieden die ingaan op het effectief virtueel werken in (project)teams. Kortom, hoe haal je als projectleider en/of teamlid zo veel mogelijk uit de virtuele systemen die ons ter beschikking staan en hoe werk je optimaal virtueel samen? Essentiële skills waar geen future leader omheen kan. Ook niet in het post-corona-tijdperk. Want virtueel (samen)werken is vanaf nu niet meer weg te denken.
  2. Vanaf januari 2021 zullen wij een zestal inhoudelijke SDG Webinars aanbieden (in de periode januari t/m juni 2021), zodat de deelnemers aan het YPP hun kennis en inzichten op het brede terrein van duurzame ontwikkeling versneld kunnen vergroten.

As Accelerator for the Sustainable Development Goals

Global Compact Network Netherlands, with the support of VNO-NCW, carried out a study into stakeholder involvement by Dutch companies. This research shows that companies that actively involve their stakeholders in their organization are successful in implementing solutions to the societal challenges, as expressed by the SDGs. Political and social stakeholders are also expected to be more involved in the business. In this publication Global Compact Network Netherlands provides a model and a practical questionnaire for companies to raise their stakeholder engagement to a higher level.
