Guided by the Ten Principles and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals we support companies and stakeholders in understanding what responsible business means within a global and local context and provide guidance to translate sustainability commitments into action.
Founded by then Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 2000, the United Nations Global Compact is a special initiative of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General and the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. It is a call to companies to align strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption, and take actions that advance broader societal goals aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
The UN Global Compact Network Netherlands (NL), based in The Hague, was initially launched in 2007 and has operated as an independent organization since 2023. The network serves as a catalyst for ambitious businesses committed to upholding the Ten Principles and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. Through a diverse range of programmes, online learning, and events, we aim to foster meaningful partnerships and empower organizations across the Netherlands to amplify their positive impact and drive sustainable change.

By incorporating the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact into strategies, companies are setting the stage for long-term success.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 targets aimed at making the world a better place by the year 2030. Established by the United Nations in 2015, the goals serve as a global compass for addressing challenges such as poverty, climate change, gender equality, and education.
